We are fortunate enough to have the ability to house a kiln here at BNS, and can therefore fully learn about ceramics and the clay process. Clay is a material that we use every year, and it sure is fun to learn how to manipulate and join pieces for some beautiful sculpture or functional art! Check out below how Red Room students are learning about and making ceramic art!

Hello BNS Families, We are partnering with SilverGraphis to celebrate creativity and raise funds for our art classes! SilverGraphics will imprint your child's art on on a wide selection of items that are great keepsakes or gifts. Today, a customized SilverGraphics order form for each student was distributed in family mailboxes. This is the artwork that your child chose. You can use the order form provided, or just order online as stated on the order form. However, you may also choose a different artwork, or add another artwork by using a generic order form. I will put some generic forms on the bulletin board outside of the art room. You can find more information at the SilverGraphics website https://www.silvergraphics.com/ These are some online exclusives that are not available on the order form. http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?ca=44931097-649c-4c7f-9c29-8fa789d06084&c=409a9980-7c6d-11e3-9195-d4ae527536d1&ch=43365300-7c6d-11e3-921d-d4ae527536d1 Orders are due Monday, November 9, and will be delivered before we leave for winter break! |
Hello, my name is Patti Rowland and I am the art teacher for grades K - 8 at Blacksburg New School. I feel very fortunate to be able to have each class for an hour two times a week. Teaching at Blacksburg New School gives me the opportunity to explore and create a curriculum that incorporates choice-based learning, which serves the varying processing styles of our young artists.
