Check out the board next to the art room for the October Raffle Winner and the November artwork. It's a fun way to talk and think about different artists and their art. Maybe you'll have a fun conversation about it at dinner this weekend! Parent help is encouraged!
Southside Garden Club has offered to sponser BNS as participants in the 2018 Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl Poster contest. Students in grades 3-5 have been working on posters to share the message of Smokey the Bear or Woodsy Owl. it has been a great exercise for students to think about how to use lettering, use a iconic character, and make sure the message is clear. They have been doing a great job. Parents will be contacted if students would like to participate in the judges portion of the contest. |
Hello, my name is Patti Rowland and I am the art teacher for grades K - 8 at Blacksburg New School. I feel very fortunate to be able to have each class for an hour two times a week. Teaching at Blacksburg New School gives me the opportunity to explore and create a curriculum that incorporates choice-based learning, which serves the varying processing styles of our young artists.
