Hello Yellow Room Artists! I hope that you are taking time to do some self-guided art. This is a time to be inspired by things around you. For this art journal page, I was inspired by two things. 1. SPRING (the snow was trying to fool us, but Spring is here). Have you been seeing a lot of birds outside? 2. I am trying to work in my art journal just like you. I noticed that the back of one of the pages had the lines show through from the marker that I used for oval practice with the younger classes. This gave me an idea! I decided to use the lines on the back of the page.
Check out the video below to see how I drew my oval birds and colored them in using Primary Colors (yellow, red, blue). I used simple shapes (ovals and triangles) and put them together to draw something new!

Take a look at this video to see how I used the back of the page from when I drew my Primary Colored Birds. For this drawing I used value (lightness and darkness of a color) to imply dimension, line (to clarify edges and shapes), and more details. Did you notice that I used Secondary Colors (orange, green, violet) for these birds?

What will inspire you today?
You can try to draw birds using simple shapes, like I've demonstrated here. You can use one of the drawing prompts in your art journal. OR, you can come up with a completely different idea to create an artwork. I can't wait to see what you make! Add it to the Art Journal Artwork folder, or self-guided folder in your Artsonia online gallery to share it with me!
