Spring time is here... which means MULTI-colored tie dye. Students will be tying during class on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday this week. The tie dye event is on Thursday, and rinsing day is on Friday. For those of you who would like to volunteer on Friday to rinse all of those beauties, drop me an e-mail to let me know which hour slot works best ([email protected]).

Art contests can offer great opportunities for artists to participate in a larger art community, typically with a specific visual challenge, as well as be recognized for ideas and skills. Check out the information below for the Life is Good t-shirt design contest. Visit http://content.lifeisgood.com/art-contest/ for more details. Entries can also be submitted by mail and postmarked no later than May 1st, 2017 to: The middle school students thought about what makes them happy and created these artworks below. The below projects have been created by students from Red Room through Blue Room. See the amazing art they've created! |
Hello, my name is Patti Rowland and I am the art teacher for grades K - 8 at Blacksburg New School. I feel very fortunate to be able to have each class for an hour two times a week. Teaching at Blacksburg New School gives me the opportunity to explore and create a curriculum that incorporates choice-based learning, which serves the varying processing styles of our young artists.
